In Years 7 and 8 the students have a set
program that enables them to experience a diverse curriculum. Students have a choice of
French or Italian in
Year 7
In Term 1, Year 7 has a three day camp
at Narrabeen Sport & Recreation Centre. The camp is placed early in the year so
students
have an opportunity to get to know each
other and develop new friendships. It is an expectation that all Year 7 students
attend.
Year 7 classes are streamed at the
beginning of the year in English and Mathematics. Towards the end of 2006, Year
6 students willundertake a series of tests conducted by the educational
consultants Robert Allwell & Associates. The results of these tests will provide
the school with a measure (but not a conclusive statement) of each student’s
performance compared with other students of the same year level across the
state. This information enables the school to organise class groupings; to
identify students in need of special assistance or extension; and to identify
areas of the curriculum that may require focus or development. Parents receive a
report on these test results early in 2007.
Year 7 Students participate in the state
wide ELLA and SNAP Testing (Terms 1). These tests will provide the school with
a measure of literacy and numeracy skills. Each parent will receive an
individual report outlining their child’s performance on these tests.
In Year 8 students participate in a wide
reading program.
