Students also study elective subjects of their own
choice from a number of subjects offered by the College. Each student
normally selects two subjects and studies these subjects in both Year 9 and Year
10. The subject range offered by the College to students in Year 9 varies,
but usually includes the following subjects:

In Year 10 the students also have
Career Education lessons as part of their curriculum. As part of this
program Year 10 students undertake Vocational Testing by the educational
consultants, Robert Allwell & Associates. These tests identify personal
strengths and interests and assist students in making career choices and in
selecting subjects for H.S.C. study.

A central part of the Religious
Education Curriculum enables Year 10 students to be involved in a community
service program. This program provides Year 10 students with the
opportunity to contribute their time and energy to working with Senior Citizens
in the community.

After the School Certificate in
November, Year 10 students participate in a Foundation Program. This program has
a focus on preparing the students for Senior Studies. Students who are leaving
school participate in a Student Leavers Program and a work experience program.

Year 10 students have a
Graduation Mass to mark the conclusion of their Junior Secondary Education at
Marian and a Formal to mark the end of compulsory education as a number of
students leave at the end of Year 10 to pursue employment, apprenticeships and
TAFE options.
